San Diego, CA (Jan. 13, 2016) – The San Diego Grantmakers (SDG) Board of Directors has appointed a new Chair and three new members from the local philanthropic community.

David Lynn, a partner with San Diego Social Venture Partners, has stepped into the role of Board Chair. Additionally, former Superior Court Judge and The Parker Foundation Trustee Ernest Borunda, Marie C. and Joseph C. Wilson Foundation Trustee Elenore Garton, and Kaiser Permanente San Diego Service Area Director of Finance Shreya Sasaki, will each serve on the Board for three years beginning this month.

“We are incredibly grateful to have Ernie, Nelli, and Shreya joining our Board,” said SDG President and CEO Nancy Jamison. “Their contributions, under David's insightful leadership as Board Chair, will undoubtedly enhance our efforts to adapt to a changing philanthropic landscape and meet the need for greater connectivity among funders, nonprofits, and other sectors in San Diego.”

During her two-year term as Board Chair, Connie Matsui, oversaw a transformative period of growth for the organization due in large part to her guidance of a successful fundraising campaign to invest in its capacity. She continues to serve on the Board as Immediate Past Chair. This year also marks the completion of the Board terms of Mary Herron of The Parker Foundation and Christy Wilson of Rancho Santa Fe Foundation. Their years of service to SDG were immensely valuable and they each were key leaders in SDG member efforts to help San Diego's homeless and transitioning military personnel.

The new Board members join a distinguished group of local funders who round out the SDG Board of Directors:

  • Dr. Paula Cordeiro, Treasurer, The James Irvine Foundation

  • Nancy Sasaki, Secretary, Alliance Healthcare Foundation

  • Peter Callstrom, San Diego Workforce Partnership

  • Steve Eldred, The California Endowment

  • Sharyn Goodson, Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego

  • Linda Spuck, Union Bank

  • Beatriz Palomino Young, Sempra Energy
