Military Transition Support Project Community Plan

In 2013, the Military Family Support Working Group, a funder collaboration facilitated by San Diego Grantmakers, launched the Military Transition Support Project (MTSP), an unprecedented year-long collaboration among San Diego's military, government agencies, elected officials, nonprofits, businesses, and philanthropic institutions. The goal of MTSP was to develop a comprehensive plan to better coordinate community resources for veterans, and to connect those resources to service members as early in the transition from active to civilian duty as possible.

The resulting MTSP Community Plan was unveiled during a public convening on Feb. 18, 2014, and an additional year was spent securing the initial implementation funding as well as a Memorandum of Understanding with Navy Region Southwest to gain access to transitioning service members during their federally mandated transition classes.

In January 2015, a new nonprofit organization called zero8hundred opened its doors and began making the MTSP Community Plan a reality. MFSWG remains connected to the work of zero8hundred.
